Public Theology

The prophetic public witness of the church has long been a vital force in shaping public discourse on the global stage.

Developing well-grounded, socially and politically aware Hispanic/Latine clergy leaders is vital for ministry in the 21st century.

Leadership able to participate in seeking the common good through theological reflection, action, and acompañamiento is more important than ever given the current state of our world.

As we confront the dangers of Christian nationalism, white supremacy, and dehumanizing racialized political discourse, thoughtful and critical voices must enter into the public discourse to offer another way—the Jesus way.

Pastoral Leadership Development Process

Thanks to the Lilly Foundation, El Plan and GCORR are developing and implementing a pastoral leadership development process for the capacity and creation of Latine Pastors as Public Theologians.

El Plan and GCORR will guide and facilitate leaders through an 18-month learning experience that will equip pastors to:

DEVELOP

capacity in the art of theological reflection

PARTICIPATE

in the public square seeking the common good

INCREASE

capacity to develop laity teams

UNDERSTAND

their role as public theologians as part of the pastoral calling
