The purpose of this training in Spanish is to develop a better understanding of the polity, structure, and processes of The United Methodist Church .

Whether participants are new to the denomination or looking to deepen their knowledge, this workshop provides essential insights into the UMC’s connectional system, the roles of the various bodies of annual conferences, and the ways leadership is shared across local, regional, and global levels.

This training is especially valuable for congregations seeking to engage more effectively with the Hispanic/Latino community, ensuring that ministry efforts are both culturally responsive and aligned with the church’s organizational framework.

This training is divided into three sections, each offering foundational knowledge about how The United Methodist Church is organized and governed.

Together, these sections provide a comprehensive overview of church structure, leadership, and the processes that guide ministry across all levels of the denomination.

  • Provides a basic definition of the polity and system of government of The United Methodist Church.

  • Provides an overview of the basic areas of local church structure, membership, and organization.

  • Provides a better understanding of the process of overseeing pastors and the church and the episcopal appointment system.
